Free Parking Will Remain Available In Conway City Limits

The leaders decided against funding parking meters and they are now exploring other options to enforce the current free two-hour parking.

Conway City Council approved its nearly $80 million budget, but did not include the controversial plan to add parking meters downtown.

City leaders decided to discuss reinstating paid parking in its budget after receiving complaints from residents that were threatened with paid parking in the Conway city limits.

The leaders decided against funding parking meters and they are now exploring other options to enforce the current free two-hour parking.

However, the budget will fund upgrades to downtown sidewalks and $500 thousand to expand the city’s Riverwalk to 4th Avenue.

It will also increase salaries for first responders as well as back the hire of 24 new full-time employees and one part-time employee to assist in providing services for the growing city.

The budget goes into effect on July 1st.
