NASA Expected To Launch Mission To Explore A Metal World
The Psyche mission was originally expected to lift off last year, but the launch window closed before it was ready.
The first NASA spacecraft designed to study a metallic asteroid is now scheduled to launch in October.
The journey, called the Psyche mission was originally expected to lift off last year, but the launch window opened on August 1st and closed October 11th before the spacecraft’s flight software was ready.
The spacecraft is now expected to embark on a 280 million mile journey and reach the asteroid also named Psyche in August of 2029 and stay in orbit for 26 months.
