McMaster Urges Lawmakers To Make Decisions On Plans
McMaster said he may contemplate on calling them back to Columbia once again to get things done.
At a news conference held at the state House on Tuesday, Governor McMaster once again called on S.C. lawmakers to pass a bond reform plan and stronger penalties for illegal guns.
Along with McMaster was Lance CPL B.A. Frazier who was shot in the face by a suspect after conducting a traffic stop. The suspect arrested was 37-year-old Derrick Gathers who was out on bond on charges in Georgia.
McMaster used this as well as other incidents as an example to urge lawmakers to approve a plan that would revoke bond for repeat violent offenders that has passed in the House, but not through the Senate yet.
The governor is also pushing for tougher penalties for possessing illegal guns as lawmakers are in debate and continue to add provisions until an agreement can be reached.
