Man Arrested After Shooting Into Vehicle Injuring Three People

The victims were transported to a nearby hospital for non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

A man was arrested after injuring three people.

Deputies reported to calls of a shooting around 1a.m. in the 2500 Block of Wippoorwill Road in Effingham.

59-year-old Mikel Johnson was allegedly arguing with someone in a front yard when the conflict intensified into a physical fight. He then allegedly proceeded to go inside a home, grabbed a gun and shot multiple times into an occupied vehicle.

The victims were transported to a nearby hospital for non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

Johnson was arrested and charged with three counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He is currently being detained at the Florence County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
