Conway Teen Tried As An Adult In Murder Of 14-Year-Old

Due to the severity of this case, Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson said his office is taking an aggressive approach.

A family court judge ruled that a Conway teen will be tried as an adult for the murder and attempted murder of two juveniles.

15-year-old Damien Rodriguez was charged on August 13th of last year in Horry County in the death of 14-year-old Christopher Garrett who was shot multiple times in a wooded area near his home in Conway.

Due to the severity of this case, Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson said his office is taking an aggressive approach.

After a hearing, the Honorable Family Court Judge Holly Wall determined that the charges should be waived up to General Sessions Court.

No immediate hearings are scheduled at this time.
