Marion Man Arrested And Accused Of Killing His Brother
Billy Avant was arrested at the scene and initially told police the shooting was an accident though it happened during a heated argument between him and the victim.
A Marion man has been accused of killing his brother who died early on Wednesday morning.
On Tuesday night, officers responded to the 900 block of Cooper Street in Marion around 7:30p.m..
The victim whose name has not been released, was found in the front yard of the residence, where he had been shot. He was transported to MUSC hospital in Marion before being transferred to MUSC in Charleston where he later died.

Avant was taken to the Marion County Detention Center and is facing charges of murder, pointing and presenting a firearm at a person, discharging a firearm within city limits, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, unlawful carrying of a firearm, and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
