Thousands Of Border Encounters Have Already Occurred Ahead Of Title 42 Termination

If migrants are found ineligible for asylum, they could be removed through the speedy deportation process known as 'Expedited Removal', in which they would be banned from the U.S. for five years.

U.S. borer authorities encountered over 10 thousand migrants along the U.S. Southern border on Tuesday.

The amount of encounters have already surpassed government estimates ahead of the official termination of Title 42 that occurs on Thursday.

Among the new policy measures the Biden administration is setting, a new asylum rule will largely bar migrants who passed through another country from seeking asylum in the U.S..

The rule will presume migrants are ineligible for asylum if they did not first seek refuge in a country they traveled through such as Mexico, on the way to the U.S. border.

Migrants who secure an appointment will be exempt. If migrants are found ineligible for asylum, they could be removed through the speedy deportation process known as ‘Expedited Removal’, in which they would be banned from the U.S. for five years.

As of Wednesday there are over 28 thousand migrants in U.S. Customs and Border Protection Custody.
