Jury Found Donald Trump Liable For Battery and Defamation
Holding the former president accountable, the jury awarded Carroll $5 million for battery and defamation.
A Manhattan federal jury delivered their verdict in a case that alleged Donald Trump of sexual assault and defamation.
Jean Carroll accused the former president of sexually abusing her in a department store in 1996. She also claimed Trump defamed her when he denied her claim and said she was not even his type as he suggested she fabricated the story to boost sales of her book.
Trump denied all wrong doing.
The jury found that Trump did in fact sexually abuse Carroll, sufficient to hold him liable for battery, but the jury did not find that Carroll proved he raped her.
Holding Trump accountable, the jury awarded Carroll $5 million for battery and defamation.
Trump’s attorneys have said he plans to appeal the verdict.
