Proposed Regulations Would Require Airlines To Compensate Customers
The administration is also expected to expand an online dashboard to provide travelers with additional transparency on airlines' compensation policies.
The Biden administration announced plans for new regulations regarding air-travel.
Later this year the administration is expected to propose a historic new rule that will make it mandatory for all U.S. airlines to compensate travelers for meals, hotels, taxis, ride-shares, rebooking fees, with cash, travel miles or vouchers, whenever they are responsible for a cancellation or delay.
The airlines would also have to refund the cost of the traveler’s ticket.
The administration is also expected to expand an online dashboard to provide travelers with additional transparency on airlines’ compensation policies.
The proposed requirements come as part of a push to improve customer service.
