Unbox Your Hat and Get Ready for Derby Day!

If you're looking to get in on all the derby fun, there are plenty of events across the Grand Strand.

The Kentucky Derby is Saturday.  Those who don’t attend, go to parties!  The legendary event may be centered around a horse race, but it’s foremost about fashion, especially the hat!  It’s a time to showcase the finest in spring attire.  Hat will be adorned with feathers, bows, and any color that express creativity.   You will see it all, including bright neon colors for 2023.  A big one is the Habitat for Humanity Derby Day at Grande Dunes Resort Club.   It’s held in conjunction with the Coastal Carolina Sertoma Club.  It’s combining fun festivities with fundraising for an important cause in our communities on the Grand Strand.   You can view the race while enjoying hor d’oeuvres and spirits, and there’s a silent auction.   Tickets are $125.  There’s other venues holding viewing parties like at Duck Dive bar and there’s a Mother’s Day derby event on Canal Street that we found on Eventbrite.
