Google Obtains New Way For Users To Access Accounts
Google will continue to support passwords and two-factor authentication as other account access options.
Google has announced an alternative to using a password to enter your account.
On Wednesday, the tech giant started rolling out support for ‘passkeys’. It is an alternative sign-in method for apps and websites that the company says is meant to serve as an “easier to use and more secure alternative to the password.”
With ‘passkeys’, Google said users can access their accounts the same way they might unlock their phone, with a fingerprint, face scan, or screen lock pin.
The option of passkeys has been available through Apple, Chrome, and Android, and now across Google accounts, from Gmail to Drive.
The goal is to prevent people from forgetting a password that they once created and to provide more security to accounts.
