The city of North Myrtle Beach is planning to spend $25 million on its park and sports complex. The spending will take place next year in hopes to meet the growth of sports tourism. Athletic and sports tourism manager, Amanda Player-Wofford, said the tournaments and recreation programs are becoming too big for the current space. The complex plans to add another six baseball and softball fields, five more multipurpose fields for soccer, lacrosse and ultimate frisbee plus, a family entertainment center. The new investment could have a $15 million impact on the city.
