Is Dog Walking More Dangerous Than We Realize?
Women and seniors have a higher chance of suffering serious injuries while strolling with Fido.
Walking your dog might be more dangerous than you think. New research by John Hopkins University estimates more than 420-thousand adults in the U.S. visited emergency rooms for dog walking related injuries from 2001 to 2020.
A majority of the injuries were caused by a person falling after being tangled in, pulled by, or tripped by the leashed dog. The most common injuries include…brain injury, finger fractures, and shoulder strains or sprains. The research also found that roughly half of all patients were 40 to 64 years old and that women and seniors have a higher chance of suffering serious injuries while strolling with Fido.
