Waffle House Employees Serve Extra Incentives to Students Applying for Jobs

It’s a birthday parade at Delmae Elementary in Florence! Students, teachers, staff, gathered to form a parade for their principal Anne Jolley to celebrate her 70th birthday! Leading things off was the Wilson High School band, her alma mater. Jolley was driven through the line snuggled up in a blanket on a golf cart. Even the superintendent and a board member showed up, as did past co-workers and family. Jolley has 24 years of service at Delmae Elementary. Happy birthday!
Waffle house dished an extra incentive for students this week. They cooked up some waffles and served them to students at Robeson Community College as they dropped in to learn about how to spruce up their resumes. The college is holding a career fair and have been holding workshops to hep students prepare from filling out job applications, the resume, interviewing and “the do’s and don’t” of what to wear for it.
A 19-year-old goes to a lot of effort to track down the owner of a wallet left in a shopping cart at Walmart. Dee, a grandmother of seven didn’t realize she left her wallet until later. Delivontae Johnson found the wallet, looked dee up on Facebook, messaged her. when dee didn’t reply, he reached out to one of her friends. There was a lot of back and forth but they connected and Delivontae got the wallet to Dee. the two have now become friends, visiting each other’s churches and meeting family members. Delivontae says it felt “great” to help someone in need, and urged others to perform random acts of kindness when presented with the chance to brighten someone’s day.
“We are just not cat people.” It’s always those type of statements that precede falling head over heels with a pet. They say a cat chooses you. a mom shares dashcam video of how this cat chose his son. He was working as a delivery driver when the cat runs and latches onto him. That’s when he called his mom to ask if they can keep the cat…as if he had a choice! As you can see the the cat has found its person.
