MBPD Tests New Flow Of Traffic On Ocean Boulevard
Travelers were forced to drive on the Southbound lane and the Northbound lanes were for emergency vehicle access.
Over the weekend, the Myrtle Beach Police Department tested a new flow of traffic on Ocean Boulevard.
The Department said the one-way traffic solution has been a success in the past when officials and EMS are not able to get to certain areas on the boulevard.
The testing was performed from 16th Avenue North to 9th Avenue.
Travelers were forced to drive on the Southbound lane and the Northbound lanes were for emergency vehicle access.
The Department determined the testing to be a success, but some residents remain strongly opposed to the idea.
People who live and work in the area argue that one-way traffic makes it harder on them to get where they need to be.
The strategy is not set in stone as businesses in the area are allowed to give their feedback as well.
