China Issues Warning Following Taiwan And U.S. Meetings

China has officially announced a warning following the United States and Taiwan’s meeting.

China vowed reprisals against Taiwan after a meeting between leader, Tsai Ing-wen and U.S. House Speaker, Kevin McCarthy. The two met on Wednesday to show the U.S.’ support for the self-governed island, which China claims is their territory.

The White House claims there are no threatening intentions stemming from Tsai’s visit. Yet, it comes amid the increasing tensions between the U.S. and China which prompted Beijing to announce it would take “resolute and forceful measures to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
