Turkey Approves Finland’s NATO Application
All 30 NATO members must ratify a new membership before they are allowed to join the alliance.
Finland’s application to join NATO has been approved.
After months of delay, the Turkish Parliament voted unanimously in favor of Finland’s membership which was the last awaiting step to make it official.
Finnish President Sauli Niinisto said, “Finland will be a strong and capable ally, committed to the security of the alliance.”
Turkey has not yet indicated whether it will approve Sweden’s NATO membership which is also the only delay blocking their application acceptance.
