Possible Project On Postal Way Funded By ‘Private Money’

A side road in Carolina Forest could soon see major developments.

Developers are requesting for the Horry County Planning Commission to rezone a piece of land along Postal Way Road.

If approved it would be possible to add over one thousand residential and commercial units along the road including town-homes, single-family homes, and businesses.

The plans would allow three additional access points connecting Highway 501 and four others on Postal Way and two roundabouts would be placed.

Members of the Horry County Planning Commission shared that the money to fund the project would not come from tax-payer dollars, but from ‘private money’.

If these plans proceed forward, nearly 10 thousand vehicles could soon be passing along Postal Way every day.

Along with those plans, the county proposed adding another traffic light along Highway 501 and further expansion of Postal Way.

A public hearing on the project is set to be held at the Horry County Government and Justice Center next week.
