Former President Trump Indicted By Manhattan Grand Jury

This is the first time a current or former U.S. president has been criminally charged.

Former President Donald Trump has officially been indicted by a Manhattan grand jury.

The Manhattan district attorney’s office has been investigating the former president in connection to a hush money scheme to cover-up his involvement with adult film star Stormy Daniels.

Just before the 2016 presidential election, Trump’s then-personal attorney, Michael Cohen, allegedly paid Daniels $130 thousand to silence her from going public about an alleged affair with Trump a decade earlier.

Trump remains consistent in denying the claims of the encounter along with denying knowledge of the payment.

Though hush money payments are not illegal, prosecutors have been weighing whether to charge Trump with falsifying the business records of the Trump organization for how it reflected reimbursement of the payment to Cohen.

By doing that, the former president falsified business records which is a misdemeanor in New York.

This is the first time a current or former U.S. president has been criminally charged.

Trump is expected to turn himself in on Tuesday.
