15-Year-Old Makes Herself Known At The Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championship

EVAN, GA – Wednesday morning 72 ladies teed it up in the first round of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championship. One of those was 15-year-old, Gianna Clemente, who just celebrated her birthday.

Clemente started 2023 with a bang, crowned the South Atlantic Women’s Amateur at the age of 14. Her budding resume is quite impressive as she is the youngest female to ever Monday qualify for three straight LPGA Tour events. Clemente is now the top ranked junior player in the country and she is also inside the top 60 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. Gianna is thrilled to be a part of the event, playing for the chance to tee it up at Augusta National.

Giana fired an opening round 2 over 74 which was tied for 23rd. After the second round on Thursday, the field will be cut to the top 30 players, who advance to play at Augusta National Golf Club on Saturday in the final round. One footnote to this story, all the ladies, whether they make the cut or not, get the chance to tee it up on Friday at Augusta National Golf Club.
