Ian And Fiona Retired From Atlantic Tropical Cyclone Names List

Names are set to repeat every six years unless they are retired due to an abundance of death and destruction.

Two names have been retired from the Atlantic Tropical Cyclone naming list.

Ian and Fiona have been retired and will be replaced with ‘Idris’ and ‘Farrah’ beginning in 2028.

Names are set to repeat every six years unless they are retired due to an abundance of death and destruction.

Last year Hurricane Ian made its way across parts of the U.S. leaving destruction and resulting in 150 deaths.

Hurricane Fiona hit Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Turks & Caicos, and Lesser Antillees. The storm caused over $3 billion in damage and at least 29 people died.

The storms prompted enough devastation to retire the names for good.
