Waccamaw Community Foundation Grants Funds To Assist In Preparing Kindergarteners

The funds will be used to support the cost of setting up the Waccamaw Region Basics website and to help pay for the first three years of annual maintenance fees.

The Waccamaw Community Foundation announced a new grant to fund a special kindergarten readiness initiative.

The grant will be backed by United Way of Horry County and Black River United Way. The funds will be used to support the cost of setting up the Waccamaw Region Basics website and to help pay for the first three years of annual maintenance fees.

The new website will feature ‘The Basics Incorporated’ which will help parents and caregivers in the county by providing resources necessary in preparing children who are starting school.

United Way of Horry County explained only 36% of kindergartners in Horry and 46% of Georgetown County kindergartners actually begin their education progress prepared for the academic and social challenges they may face in school.
