CBP To Grant Parole To Injured Victims Of Immigration Detention Center Fire
The migrants would be able to enter the U.S. legally to receive emergency medical services.
A fire broke out at a detention center in a Mexican city on the U.S. border that resulted in many deaths and left others injured.
The fire occurred on Monday night in Ciudad Juárez and an investigation has been opened into what caused the fire.
At least 40 people have been confirmed deceased and 29 were seriously injured in the blaze and transferred to local hospitals. 68 men were housed at the facility, including various nationalities.
A Customs and Border Protection spokesperson shared that U.S. border officials are prepared to ‘quickly process and admit’ victims of the fire so they can receive medical treatment in the U.S..
CBP is planning to grant parole to migrant victims of the fire on humanitarian groups so they would be able to enter the country legally to receive emergency medical services.
