Late Thursday night, one American was killed and six were left wounded after a suspected Iran-linked drone attacked a military base in Northeastern Syria.
An American contractor died as a result of the attack and five U.S. troops along with a second U.S. contractor were injured.
Two of the wounded U.S. service members were treated at the base where the attack occurred. The other three members and the wounded contractor were medically evacuated to facilities in neighboring Iraq.

The pentagon announced it responded to the attack by launching retaliatory airstrikes on facilities used by groups affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Iran’s government has not yet reacted or responded.
