President Biden Announced Progress In A Three-Nation Deal

The announcement marks the highest point of progression in the 18 month long negotiation between the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia.

President Biden is set to reveal the first phase of a three-Nation nuclear submarine deal.

The announcement marks the highest point of progression in the 18 month long negotiation between the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia.

The discussions have surrounded the question of how to provide Australia with a fleet of nuclear-powered submarines. Restrictions on technology transfers and classified nuclear processes have made the plans difficult since the deal between the three Nations was deemed official almost two years ago.

The first Australian submarine will not be operational until the late 2030’s or early 2040’s at the earliest.

Officials have to sort through an abundance of complicated issues including how to export the nuclear technology to the country that has no civil or military nuclear programs currently in the works. However, the announcement itself represents positive progression in upholding the deal.
