The storm blew wind gusts strong enough to turn over tractor trailer trucks and resulted in the loss of power for over 1 million people.
At least five Kentucky residents died in connection the the severe weather that hit the area Friday.
Two people died in Tennessee, both due to the downing of trees.
Other deaths include three people died in Alabama, one in Arkansas, one in Mississippi, and one in California.
This was the same storm system that brought feet of snow across parts of California resulting in the governor declaring a state of emergency.
