Project Manager for the USACE, Wes Wilson, announced the award of $56 million.
The funding will be served to assist in replenishing sand along approximately nine miles of the North Myrtle Beach coastline and is part of a larger USACE project to pump sand onto nearly 27 miles of Grand Strand beaches.
The project will involve widening the beach, rebuilding new dunes, planting dune vegetation, as well as installing sand fences.
The start date for the replenishing project has not yet been announced.
