Twitter Announced ‘Zero Tolerance’ Policy

The new policy includes new prohibitions on using code language to incite violence indirectly and places a ban on wishing others harm as well as bans on making direct physical threats.

Twitter has revealed a new ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy on violent speech that expands restrictions on certain types of threats shared via its platform.

The new policy includes new prohibitions on using code language to incite violence indirectly and places a ban on wishing others harm as well as bans on making direct physical threats.

The policy updates Twitter’s rules against “incitement to explicitly ban encouragement of war crimes, genocide or crimes against humanity”.

Under the new policy, users are not allowed to tweet actions that express hopes that others suffer death, illness, or harmful incidents of “other physically harmful consequences”.

The ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy comes as the U.S. electric grid has displayed spikes in physical attacks.
