Is it love at first sight or just being pragmatic, a lot of new couples are sharing finances early in the relationship. By sharing, we mean a credit card or a bank account with a debit card. A survey done by the financial website, The Penny Hoarder, found that 47% of American couples who share their finances do so within six months after they started dating. Otherwise, 18% did so within the year. The other 35% say it took longer than year. The site gave three bits of advice if you are headed in that direction. Don’t have the talk when you’re tired or hungry, be honest, and discuss goals. For example, which is more important paying off debt, taking vacas or going to every concert in driving distance.
