After over four months of not being able to access their homes, residents of the Renaissance Towers have been approved to return.

On October 7th, the 22-story building was deemed unsafe by county code enforcement and evacuated. Empress Management informed residents that the foundation was deteriorating.

It is unclear just how many people were forced out, but authorities evacuated over 300 of the 320 units throughout the building. Since then, engineers have been working on repairing the infrastructure’s foundation.

An email was sent out and notified residents that Horry Country approved re-entry to the building.

Upon return, residents must follow certain rules and guidelines as the building is still an active construction zone.

Residents can return, but if anyone attempts to enter the construction zone they will be issued a Life Safety Violation fine with a minimum value of $500.

They were also warned that the cooling tower is currently being repaired therefore there is no functional heating and air at this time.
