Hong Kong Officially Lifting Its Mask Mandate

Hong Kong is one of the last major cities that requires the face coverings.

A major International city is officially lifting its mask mandates from the COVID-19 pandemic era.

Hong Kong is one of the last major cities that requires the face coverings. On Tuesday, it was announced that it will end its controversial COVID mask mandate nearly three years after it was enacted to prevent the spread of the virus.

The mandate required facial coverings in all public spaces and has been enforced by presenting fines that could value over $1 thousand.

The city’s leader John Lee said starting on Wednesday, the mandate will be fully terminated marking 959 days since the rule was first imposed.

Lee said the city is “returning to normalcy.”
