Shipment Resumes For Contaminated Waste From Ohio Train Derailment

Earlier this month, a Norfolk Southern Railway train that was transporting toxic chemicals derailed. The Environmental Protection Agency ordered a shipment halt so that it could review the company's plans for disposal.

Shipments of contaminated liquid and soil have been approved to resume out of East Palestine, Ohio.

Shipments are now set to be transported to two EPA-certified facilities in Ohio and Norfolk Southern will start shipments to the new locations on Monday.

EPA Regional Administrator, Debra Shore, said that some of the liquid waste will be sent to a facility in Vickery, Ohio, where it will be disposed of in an underground injection and solid waste will be shipped to the heritage incinerator in East Liverpool, Ohio.
