On the anniversary, the U.S. announced a new package of long-term security assistance for Ukraine. It will include a $2 billion commitment to send more rounds of ammunition and a variety of small, high-tech drones into the fight.
The aid announcement comes a few days after President Biden made a surprise visit to Kyiv and pledged America’s continuing commitment.
In regards to the one-year mark, Ukrainian leader Zelensky said via social media, “It was a year of pain, sorrow, faith, and unity. And this year, we remained invincible. We know that 2023 will be the year of our victory.”
