Pentagon Probed Into Report Of Leaked Unsecured Emails
The server hosted an abundance of data that contained sensitive information, including personal health information of federal employees seeking security clearance.
An investigation was opened by the Defense Department’s U.S. Special Operations Command this week.
A report revealed that the unit had an exposed server that was leaking sensitive but unclassified email’s on-line. The server was secured on Monday after being exposed for the past two weeks.
A security error left the server without a password which meant that anyone on the internet could access the data through the server’s IP address.
