Meta is launching a subscription service that will allow users of two platforms to purchase verification.
The subscription is being tested for users to pay to get verified on Instagram and Facebook.
‘Meta Verified’ will start at $11.99 a month on the web or $14.99 a month on IOS. The service will come with perks such as extra protection from impersonation accounts, and direct access to customer support.
Customers who want the blue verification badge would need to provide a government ID which matches their profile name and picture. Users must be 18 or older to qualify for the new feature.
The verification option was previously only allowed for people such as celebrities, official leaders, and official company accounts.
The company is set to release the option in Australia and New Zealand this week and more countries soon depending on how the new option goes with the current tests.
