Murrells Inlet-Garden City Fire Station 2 Expects Final Inspection

The station was cleared out after Hurricane Ian damaged all the station's appliances, caused a power outage, soaked its drywall, and ruined the floors.

The Murrells Inlet-Garden City Fire Station 2 was cleared out in September after Hurricane Ian flooded the building.

The hurricane damaged all the station’s appliances, caused a power outage, soaked its drywall, and ruined the floors.

Crews have been operating from the station’s headquarters located around 5 minutes down the road.

FEMA only has one more inspection set to be conducted on Thursday before remodeling can start.

After the final inspection, supplies will be ordered and after necessities come in, the remodeling is expected to take around a month or so before the fire station is re-opened and ready to be occupied.

Deputy Fire Chief of the station, Jeff Kosto, said they plan to add improvements to better protect the building from future storms.
