The Real Reason Thrift Stores Are Thriving

A study found thrift stores are making bank from our emotional attachment to the things we own. 

Think about the last 5 or so purchases you ‘ve made in the home.  More than likely at least one of those was purchased secondhand.  A poll found that 66% report that more than half of their items were previously owned by someone else.   In case you haven’t noticed, second hand shops and thrift stores are thriving.   The same poll found it’s mainly because of our emotional attachment to the things we own.   More than half feel guilty for getting rid of things if there’s some value left in it. in fact,   About 40 percent say when it comes to decluttering, they can depart with belongings if someone else will enjoy it.   It’s likely that mindset that makes the second hand industry always in-style.
