Biden To Propose Getting Rid Of Junk Fees
This move will reduce those fees from $30 to $8 on average which could save American consumers almost $9 billion a year.
President Biden is expected to announce progress on his administration’s agenda.
The fourth meeting of the Presidential Competition Council is set to be held Wednesday.
The president is expected to get rid of junk fees while calling on Congress to pass the legislation targeting secret and excessive fees from travel, entertainment, utility, and hospitality industries. He is also set to propose a rule to throw out excessive credit card late fees.
This move will reduce those fees from $30 to $8 on average which could save American consumers almost $9 billion a year.
The proposed act will be called the ‘Junk Fee Prevention Act’ and would target “excessive online concert, sporting event, and entertainment ticket fees; airline fees for families sitting together on a plane; early termination fees for TV, phone and internet services, as well as surprise resort and destination fees.”
