Meta Set To Reinstate Trump’s Social Media Accounts
Former President Donald Trump's Facebook and Instagram accounts were suspended for allegedly inciting violence after his supporters stormed the Capitol on January 6th in 2021.
Meta announced that a formerly banned account will now be allowed back onto its platforms.
Former President Donald Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts were suspended for allegedly inciting violence after his supporters stormed the Capitol on January 6th in 2021.
Two years later, Meta has decided to allow Trump to use their platforms once again. The president of Global Affairs at Meta said they think “the risk to public safety” has significantly “receded” and therefor they will be reinstating Trump’s accounts in the upcoming weeks.
Meta will be adding new guardrails to prevent repeat offenses.
Trump regaining access to huge communication platforms comes as he prepares for his 2024 Presidential Run.
It is unclear if Trump has made a decision to seize the opportunity or not.
