Recovery Program Now Available To Female Inmates

The 'Next Steps' program was originally only available to male inmates due to funding issues.

The J. Reuben Long Detention Center has given access to a recovery program to female inmates.

For 14 years, the ‘Next Steps’ program was only available to male inmates due to funding issues. Now that the Horry County Sheriff’s Office received a $300 thousand grant from an opioid settlement fund, female inmates have access to the program as well.

Woman who are incarcerated can now take a variety of classes and have access to other resources.

The program introduces inmates to several different paths of recovery as well as provides educational and community resources.
