Instagram’s New ‘Quite Mode’ Feature
The changes are a part of the efforts to adjust to what lawmakers suggested as they were accused of leading younger users to "harmful content and damaging their health and body image."
A social media platform has announced a new feature.
Instagram now has ‘quiet mode’ which is meant to assist users in maintaining focus and setting boundaries with friends and followers.
If a user chooses to enable the option, all notifications will be paused and the profile’s activity status will change to ‘in quiet mode’.
If someone sends a direct message while the feature is enabled, Instagram will send an auto-reply notifying the sender that ‘quiet mode’ is activated.
The social media platform is attempting to help teens study and prompting them to turn the feature on when they have spent an abundance of time on the app late at night.
Instagram is updating its parental supervision tools as well. If a teen updates a setting, parents will receive a notification so they can address the change with their teenager. Parents will also be able to see accounts their teen has blocked.
The platform is introducing features that giver users more control of what shows up on their Explore feed as well.
