Myrtle Beach area businesses stepped in for santa this season.  Thanks to the efforts of Substitutes for Santa, an annual charity event hosted by Grand Strand Young Professionals in partnership with SOS Care. 150 Horry County elementary students have gifts under the tree.   A day of fun was planned for these students.  They got to go to Fun Warehouse and shopped at Walmart with $100!  These students also took home bags of household goods.   It took the generosity of many sponsors and volunteers to make this happen!

You’ve heard of the “12 Days of Christmas.  Just like that, there’s a “12 days of kindness” you can start planning for too.  It works by starting the new year off by planning 12 days during the month of January for doing something kind.  It puts good intentions into action.   There are many ideas including:  donating items to others, or to a local food pantry, paying someone’s bill, sending someone a card, reconnecting with a phone call, babysitting for a single parent for free, or leaving a gift for your mailman or service provider…you get the idea.
