Coastal Carolina University Student Passed Away
The cause of death is pending additional investigation.
The Horry County Coroner announced that the Coastal Carolina student who passed away over the weekend, died of natural causes.
An investigation has been opened after police activity was reported at one of Coastal Carolina University’s residence halls on Sunday.
The school sent out an alert around 6:25p.m on Sunday informing that law enforcement was present at Magnolia Hall and the area should be avoided at that time.
A second alert was sent out around 7p.m explaining that there was no threat to campus.
A third alert occurred around 11:10p.m and confirmed that the area was all-clear.
The university later released a statement expressing that it is “with sadness” and continued to announce that a CCU student passed away.
The identity of the student remains withheld as authorities grant the family with respect at this time.
CCU shared that their priority is to provide support to the campus community.
