In Maryland, Democrat, Wes Moore, is to become the first black governor in the state’s history.
In Massachusetts, attorney general, and Democrat, Maura Healey, is the first woman elected governor in the bay state as well as the first openly gay women to be elected in any state. Also in Massachusetts, Kim Driscoll was elected lieutenant governor, making them the first women to serve those roles in the same state.
Republican nominee for governor and former White House press secretary, Sarah Sanders claimed the title as Arkansas’ first woman to be elected for governor.
Republican Katie Britt is the first woman to be elected to the senate from Alabama.
In Florida, Democrat, Maxwell Frost, is the first Gen Z member of congress.
Another election that made history is Pennsylvania’s 12th District, Democratic congressional nominee, Summer Lee, is expected to become the first black woman to represent the state in congress.
