A New British Prime Minister Was Voted In

Rishi Sunak was named British prime minister in a vote that took place on October 24th.

Boris Johnson dropped out of the race to replace Britain’s prime minister, creating an easy victory for the newly announced leader.

Former prime minister, Liz Truss, resigned last week after serving just 44 days in office. As a result of Johnson backing out of the race, Britain’s former finance minister, Rishi Sunak, was named the country’s next leader in a vote that took place on October 24th.

The 42-year-old is the first person of color who will lead Great Britain.

He says taking on the role is the greatest privilege of his life and that he is humbled and honored.
