India Fines Google Millions For “Unfair Practices”
Google has not yet responded to the accusations.
Indian authorities have ordered Google to “cease and desist” from using its Android platform to take over the market.
India’s competition regulator claimed that Google entered “one-sided agreements” with smartphone creators to guarantee power of its apps. The country has fined the company $164 million for unfair practices.
The Competition Commission of India made a statement explaining that Google was “abusing” the licensing of its Android operating system for a range of smartphones, web searches, browsing and video hosting services.
The statement also mentioned that the practice is stifling competition and granted Google continuous access to consumer data and Ad opportunities.
Google has brought on a series of anti-trust cases in the country and authorities of India plan to investigate more into Googles technology connections.
