The DOJ Is Taking Legal Action Against 6 E-cigarette Manufacturers

The DOJ is seeking permanent injunctions against E-cigarette creators on behalf of the FDA.

The Justice Department has taken legal action against 6 E-cigarette companies.

The DOJ is seeking permanent injunctions against the creators on behalf of the FDA. This is the first time the FDA has made progress against E-cigarette manufacturers to impose its premarket review requirements for new tobacco products. The 6 companies failed to turn in the necessary premarket applications for their products, which must be passed by the FDA’s approval before being made, sold, or distributed.

The FDA has sent 300 letters warning the companies that they were violating a law. Some of the companies reportedly claimed they would cease manufacturing and distributing the nicotine products in question but, did not follow through.
