The United Nations General Assembly Condemned Russia
The United Nations General Assembly voted to condemn Russia’s attempt to annex 4 regions of Ukraine.
143 countries voted in favor of the decision. This has been the highest amount of votes against Russia since the invasion. 35 countries decided to stay neutral including China as well as India. The 4 that denied and disagreed with the decision were Belarus, North Korea, Syria, and Nicaragua.
This resolution calls for the international community to dismiss and avoid recognition of Russia’s annexation claims and demands. Ukrainian President Zelensky expressed his gratitude to the countries that supported the resolution.
President Biden stated the vote sent a “clear message” to Moscow.
