The ATA, Habitat for Humanity, and the HGHBA are Building a Home for a Local Mom
Representatives from Horry County Schools, Habitat for Humanity of Horry County, as well as the Horry Georgetown Home Builders Association gathered at the Academy for Technology and Academics, to announce the launch of their partnership to build a home for April Collier and her family.
Collier applied to the Habitat for Humanity program last fall. She shared that she wanted to provide a comfortable home for her 5 children to call their own. The partnership between HCS, Habitat, and HGHBA came from a need for the Builders Association to receive hands on experience for their Student Chapter members. This is an opportunity for the students to learn skills from professionals that could benefit them in their future careers. It is also presenting a chance for the students to help others.
The house will be move in ready at the end of the school year.
