A Historic Agreement has Been Reached Between Israel and Lebanon
A historic agreement has been reached between Israel and Lebanon. The agreement settled years of a maritime border dispute that involved major oil and gas fields in The Mediterranean Sea.
For years, the U.S. has attempted to negotiate a deal between the countries over the dispute. The final deal offer decided the area of The Mediterranean that includes the Karish oil and gas field and a region known as the Qanaa prospect, are expected to fall into Israeli and Lebanese waters. The draft agreement meets all the security and economic principles presented by both nations.
It was stated that the deal does not represent a “treaty” between the countries and is not a step toward normalization of relations between the two. While the two countries are at war, this could ease security and economic tensions for both nations. The agreement has yet to be signed but hopefully will be soon.
